Balneotherapy and Hydrotherapy

Balneotherapy is one of the most important therapeutic methods used in health resorts. It uses natural salt water, peat and gases. Hydrotherapy, generally known as water therapy, is a stimulation method consisting of the external use of water in various forms: liquid, solid or gas. The therapeutic effects are due to the temperature or pressure of the water when used appropriately for a given treatment. These treatments reduce nervous excitability, have analgesic, anti-inflammatory and stress-reducing effects, improve skin firmness and condition, help to fight cellulite and reduce body weight.

The Balneotherapy and Hydrotherapy department offers the following baths: carbonic-acid, ozone, peat and pearl, as well as baths in aromatic powders, algae or goat milk, along with Scottish water jets, underwater massage, and baths on the Aquamed water bed.

MUD BATH (UP TO 30 MINUTES)

During this treatment the body is slowly and gradually warmed up. As a result, strong perspiration occurs, but without any sudden hot flush. The body absorbs all the valuable substances from the mud, but at the same time the sweat, exfoliated epithelium, bacteria and other elements are excreted from the skin to the mud. The skin and body is cleansed, and the process is referred to as "skin dialysis". Therefore, the mud can only be used once.

The treatment provides pain relief, improves physical mobility, relaxes the muscles, cleanses the body from toxins, and has an anti-inflammatory effect.

MUD PHONOPHORESIS

This treatment uses ultrasound and mud in the form of a physioactive gel, and it supports the treatment of tendon and muscle attachment diseases.

CARBONIC-ACID DRY BATH (20 MINUTES)

The device enables treatments in an anhydride of carbonic acid for patients who cannot benefit from a "wet" carbonic-acid bath due to concurrent disorders. "Dry” baths in CO₂ do not require one to remove outerwear. The treatment is suitable for patients with motor organ dysfunctions. The easy access to the treatment station enables the replacement of "wet" baths with a carbonic-acid bath.

The therapeutic effect of carbon dioxide consists of the dilation of the capillaries as well as the aortic and venous vessels. The treatment reduces arterial blood pressure, soothes and relaxes, as well as reducing the symptoms of limb atherosclerosis.

OZONE DRY BATH (20 MINUTES)

The treatment consists in using a mixture of ozone and air. Ozone and oxygen penetrate directly through the skin, improving circulation and the nourishment of all tissues, especially of the legs, heart and brain.

The treatment improves circulation in the lower limbs, increases blood supply, has anti-thrombotic and anti-atherosclerotic effects, as well as promoting wound healing.

UNDERWATER MANUAL MASSAGE (UP TO 30 MINUTES)

The treatment consists of a massage of the entire body or parts of the body with a strong stream of water while the patient is immersed in a tub. It is effective in cases of mental and physical exhaustion, as well as in vegetative neurosis and biological renewal.

The massage reduces nervous excitability and muscular tension, has an analgesic effect, provides relaxation, improves metabolism and enhances skin firmness.

UNDERWATER MECHANICAL MASSAGE (UP TO 30 MINUTES)

The treatment consists of a massage of the entire body or certain parts of the body with a strong stream of water while the patient is immersed in a bathtub. The mechanical effect on the tissues accelerates the flow of bodily fluids, eliminates fatigue, and is effective in cases of mental and physical exhaustion, in vegetative neurosis and in biological renewal.

The aim of the massage is to calm, reduce stress and regenerate, although it also improves the sense of well-being.

PEARL BATH (UP TO 30 MINUTES)

The bath takes place in a special tub, to which air is supplied. The body is immersed in water and massaged by air bubbles from a series of nozzles, providing a very enjoyable experience. The treatment is a form of relaxation. It demonstrates positive effects in the reduction of depressive conditions. The pearl bath causes capillary dilation, and makes the skin smoother and firmer. The treatment helps to fight cellulite.

AROMATIC POWDER BATH (UP TO 30 MINUTES)

Natural powder is used to treat tired and dry skin deprived of tightness and elasticity. Thanks to the aromatic powders, the bath reduces stress, nourishes the skin and improves its condition, as well as soothing minor wounds and skin irritations.

ALGAE BATH (UP TO 30 MINUTES)

The algae (anti-cellulite) bath is very rich in vitamins, minerals, and micro- and macroelements. It stimulates blood microcirculation, detoxifies, and has slimming and skin-firming effects.

The aim of the treatment is to smooth, brighten and cleanse the skin; it also demonstrates a firming effect. It helps remove cellulite, normalise sebum secretion, and has anti-acne and anti-inflammatory effects.

GOAT MILK BATH (UP TO 30 MINUTES)

Goat milk is a cosmetic substance valued since ancient times, and is very well tolerated by the skin. It offers amino acids, fatty acids, and vitamins: A, D, C, PP, B2, B9, B12 and microelements such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc and potassium. This bath is rich in nutrients, and intended for the intensive care of dry and sensitive skin. The goat milk treatment provides soothing effects, skin firmness and long-lasting stress relief.

SCOTTISH WATER JETS (UP TO 15 MINUTES)

The treatment consists of showers using varied temperatures and water streams.

Scottish water jets stimulate circulation, improve metabolism, enhance skin firmness and aid in weight loss. This treatment is effective for patients suffering from "orange peel” skin, i.e. cellulite.

AQUAMED WATER BED MASSAGE (20 MINUTES)

Aquamed allows the massage to be adjusted to suit the individual needs of the patients. The entire body, as well as selected areas of the body, can be massaged with the use of variable strength and temperature jets. The patient, wearing light clothes, lies down on an elastic mat placed over warm water. Computer-controlled streams of water massage the body. This treatment results in muscle relaxation, stress relief and pain reduction.
